Obstruction of Justice: An act of obstructing an officer from carrying out an investigation by hindrance, annoyance, or otherwise entering, or disobeying a direct order from a law enforcement officer during an official investigation. Interfering or distracting an officer from conducting their lawful duties during an investigation. Lying or using sarcasm during an official statement during an investigation, interfering with the outcome of that investigation.
The offense of Obstruction of Justice is considered a felony and is punishable by up to $5,000 and 60 months imprisonment.
